The Ndhiwa Member of Parliament, Martin Owino has issued a ban on night discos within his constituency.
The legislator said that the night discos were always associated with social evils in the society, including early pregnancies that have been a calamity in the area.
Speaking in Ndhiwa Town on Tuesday during Education Stakeholders’ forum, Owino highlighted that the night discos were a mere waste of time and a place where children hid leading to their poor performances in school.
Owino asked all local administrators within the constituency to work together in ensuring that the ban was effected.
At the same time, Owino lamented that academic performance has been drastically dropping due to laxity of the parents to play their role and indiscipline cases among children.
The law maker further urged parents to take responsibility in ensuring that their children go to school and do a follow up to ensure that there was a good improvement index within Ndhiwa constituency.
The MP on the other hand wants the National government to urgently consider infrastructural development in schools to support the government’s policy of 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school as space for students in most secondary schools in Ndhiwa Sub County was inadequate.
He also said that the number of teachers in Ndhiwa constituency was too low to handle the high population of pupils, adding they were planning to meet Teachers Service Commission officials to discuss the matter.
