The body of man who was dragged for two kilometres along the Wote-Machakos road has been identified.

Police said the deceased was identified as Anthony Ngila Novi (49) of Ngiluni Village, Makongo sub-location in Kivani location Makueni Sub-county.

Officer Commanding area police division (OCPD) Mr. Bosita Omukolongolo said police were pursuing two known accomplices.

He said the wife of the deceased Catherine Katunge Nguli (49) identified the body at the Makueni Referral Hospital mortuary.

The deceased is alleged to have been killed by his two cousins Stephen Kiama Munene and Brian Novi Munene over a land dispute.

The alleged suspects reportedly travelled from Machakos to the home of their cousin using the vehicle found at the scene and lured him to his death on Wednesday night.

“The two brothers travelled from Machakos to Ngiluni village where they called their cousin (deceased) who joined them in the vehicle and the mission to eliminate him commenced.

They moved around Wote and Kaiti divisions before a commotion ensued inside the vehicle at Itangine trading centre.

The assailants are said to have thrown the deceased out of the running vehicle but he was trapped by the safety belt as they drove in high speed.

The boda boda riders gave chase, only to find the deceased’s body at Kithamba area along the Wote-Machakos road where the vehicle was abandoned as the assailants fled on foot from the scene after they were unable to control the vehicle that landed in a ditch.

Kiama Munene was arrested by police later and is being held at the Wote police station helping in police investigations.

Omukolongolo said police were pursuing the other suspect adding that Munene will soon be arraigned in court where he will be charged with murder.
