Embu Hospital Cancer Unit ready

The  Embu Level Five Hospital, Cancer treatment unit is now ready to start receiving patients, Embu  Governor, Martin  Wambora has announced.

The  Governor  said seven medical personnel to work in the unit have completed the required on-the job training at the Coast General Hospital Oncology Centre and were now ready to start seeing patients.

He said the unit will enable five patients to get chemotherapy at a time following the installation of beds tailor-made for care of the patients.

Governor  Wambora  was speaking at his office on Wednesday morning when he flagged off a consignment of assorted drugs worth Shs. 18.1 million bought from the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS).

The governor said the county’s health facilities were now adequately stocked with drugs after the county received another consignment worth Shs. 31 million bringing the total amount his government has spent on drugs in the last two months to shs. 49.1 million.

He assured the public that the consignment, included drugs for the management of epilepsy, cancer, renal care and theater supplies that had been reported out of stock in recent days.
