Khorof Harar villages achieve Open Defecation Free status

Twenty  three (23) villages of Khorof Harar Ward in Wajir have been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) in a drive which aims at improving water and sanitation services.

The  Chief Officer Public Health and Sanitation, Abdirahman Madow said the campaign, which is global, is dedicated to raising awareness of hand washing with soap as a key factor in disease prevention.

“Hand washing is an important part of keeping food safe, preventing diseases and helping children grow strong,” said the chief officer.

“Clean hands as a recipe for health should involve hand washing as part of every meal,” he reiterated.

The Chief Officer urged other wards in Wajir County to emulate Khorof Harar to achieve ODF status.

He also thanked the County Government Department of Health and partners, namely WASDA and Global Child Hope for their efforts to realise the ODF status.
