A 32 year-old man has committed suicide at Komanda village in Kaksingri East location of Suba South constituency over alleged disagreement with his wife who went to visit her parents one month ago.
The body of Lukio Awino was found dangling from the top of the roof of his house with a rope tied around his neck last evening.
The wife allegedly had gone to visit her parents a month ago with their three children and failed to return back as agreed with the deceased when she was leaving.
Confirming the incident to KNA on phone, the area Senior Assistant chief of Sumba West Sub location Grace Ombima said that the deceased did not leave any suicidal note but hastened to add that they found a photo of the deceased’s wife placed on the table and another photo belonging to one of his children in his pocket.
The administrator further stressed that she suspected the deceased might have been aggrieved by the decision of his wife to extend the period of staying at their rural home with children without informing him of the delay.
She regretted that the cases of young couple committing suicide in the area is escalating and called on the married couples to look for better ways of solving their domestic disputes instead of resorting to unorthodox means.
On his part Homa bay county police commander Marius Tum said they have launched investigation on the incident.
The body of deceased has been moved to Kirindo Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
