About 500 farmers in Luanda Sub County, Vihiga County are set to benefit from a multi-million irrigation project fully funded by the World Bank.

National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARIGP) Project Programmer, Mr. Charles Aluda made the revelation in an interview with KNA on Wednesday.

Aluda said the World Bank has already allocated Shs.75 million towards the irrigation project, which he confirmed had already been rolled out.

“Construction works have already began on earmarked site,” confirmed Aluda saying the irrigation project would be complete by June, 2020.

“The multi-million irrigation project will benefit farmers, especially in Emabungo and Emilabi villages of Central Bunyore,” he said, adding NARIGP was working in conjunction with Vihiga county government.

He added that NARIGP plans to extend the irrigation project to several other parts in the County.

“The main aim of NARIGP’s irrigation project is to increase agricultural productivity and profitability in targeted rural communities in Kenya as well as other countries,” explained Aluda.

NARIGP’s operational framework includes, supporting community-driven development, strengthening producer organizations and value chain development and supporting county community-led development and
