Police Disrupt Resurrection Prayer

Police  dispersed a group of irate protesters who had camped at Makueni County Referral Hospital, demanding that a woman alleged to have bewitched a 16- year- old boy resurrects him.

Business came to a standstill at Wote town for the better part of the day as the protesters engaged police in running battles, while baying for blood of the alleged witch.

Police used tear gas to disperse the mob and later locked up the woman at Makueni police station to protect her from the protesters.

The boy died on Monday shortly after he was rushed to the referral hospital.

However, according to Makueni OCS Francis Gachohi the boy who was set to join form one in a nearby secondary school succumbed to meningitis.

But, on their part, the protesters insisted that the boy was bewitched by the woman after an altercation with his mother.

“She is a witch and should be forced to undo what she did to the boy,” said one of the protesters.
