Science labs and a tuition block officially opened in Nyamira

West Mugirango Member of Parliament (MP), Stephen Mogaka, has officially opened a tuition block and two ultra- modern fully equipped science labs to provide ample nurturing and learning environment for students at Nyakeore Secondary School in Nyamira County.

During the occasion, Mogaka emphasized that education is the only equalizer in a society where gaping economic disparities between the rich and the poor are outrightly discriminative in our communities and in the country as a whole.

“Am striving to ensure that students within my constituency have equal opportunities in accessing quality education because only then can they compete both locally and globally for job opportunities and any other opportunities which will enable them improve and transform their lives and at the same time salvage their homes from reeling economic struggles they are currently grappling with,” the MP assured.

“The only weapon you can use at the moment to conquer a bleak future filled with myriads of uncertainties is education. Ensure you score excellent grades to enable you proceed to university or college to pursue your dream careers to give you an opportunity to compete for the limited job opportunities with your counterparts from well to do families eyeing the same posts.” Mogaka advised.

The Legislator confirmed that he has allocated sufficient funds to ensure the institution constructs enough spacious classrooms, adequately equipped science laboratories, timely disbursement of bursary to ensure no learner will be sent home for due to school fees arrears and they challenged them not to give any excuse on why they should not excel in their final secondary examination.

He told the students to make use of their teachers by consulting them regularly on subjects and topics which are a bit challenging especially mathematics, sciences and languages because they are qualified and have vast experience on their areas of specialization to boost their performance.

“The future needs resilient people who will have ability to endure various life situations and those who can quickly comprehend and learn skills fast. You there have an opportunity to be that kind of a person who can quickly cope, learn and execute tasks excellently with minimum supervision,” Mogaka emphasized.

Nyakeore Secondary School Principal, Charles Omosa was very grateful for the area MP’s support to ensure the school’s infrastructural is upgraded to offer quality learning environment for the enrolled of students in the Senior Secondary School (SSS) level which commenced at the start of this year.

“Word spread like bush fire that our school is constructing and equipping two science labs and a storey tuition block which has given us a new face. This alone has been a great motivation to the entire school community. We are now being recognized among those schools which can comfortably host over 1000 students without fear of overcrowding,” the principal happily announced.

Mr. Omosa promised that they will ensure students from Nyakeore will be among the top candidates when results will be released not just in this county but nationally because they have been empowered.
