Police in Bungoma South Sub County are investigating an incident in which three people were killed in Siritanyi area on Wednesday evening.
Confirming the incident, area deputy OCPD Aloys Orioki said police received information at about 4.45 pm last Tuesday that a suspect had been killed by an angry mob at the village.
Orioki said two bodies were found lying on the ground unconscious and were rushed to Bungoma County Referral hospital where they were confirmed dead by the medical staff.
He said initial investigations revealed that the deceased, Yusuf Sheunda, 23, had attacked his parents with a jembe and upon raising alarm, a neighbour Joseph Musafu responded to the distress call and was also attacked by Yusuf and was fatally injured with the jembe.
The deputy OCPD said Yusuf’s mother, Grace Akote, 46, and Musafu,70, were confirmed dead upon arrival at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital while Yusuf’s father David Sheunda, 68, was rushed to Bungoma West Hospital in a critical condition.
He said that the mob was angered by the killings and attacked Yusuf, beating him to death.
The three bodies were moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
