Two passengers died Friday night and scores were injured after two mini buses collided head-on along Mwingi-Kyuso road near Waita market, 15 kilometers from Mwingi Town
Confirming the accident, Mwingi police commander Francis Wahome said the two died on the spot, adding that one of the drivers lost control of the vehicle, crossed the lane and collided with the oncoming min bus.
“The driver of the min bus heading to Kyuso from Mwingi failed to keep on his lane and crossed the road thus colliding head-on with the other oncoming mini bus”, said the OCPD.
On impact one of the vehicles overturned killing a 24 year old man and a woman. Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Mwingi level four hospitals.
Wahome cautioned drivers against over speeding especially on smooth tarmac roads, saying most of the accidents in the area happened on tarmac roads,
The two vehicles were towed to Mwingi police station.
