Foundation donates sports kits to Agai Mixed school

Students at Agai Mixed Secondary School in Nyakach, Kisumu County, were filled with joy and excitement after the Eliud Owalo Foundation donated new sports kits to support their journey to the national games’ competitions.

The donation included 18 tracksuits and 17 football kits, aimed at helping the school team prepare for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two National Championship set to kick off next week in Kakamega County.

Presenting the donations on Friday, the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Eliud Owalo, who also issued financial support to the school, said the gift was meant to encourage the players.

“We have visited the school with some soccer legends to inspire the boys as they proceed to represent the Nyanza region at the national level,” Owalo stated.

He praised the team’s impressive performance at the regional games and said they have the potential to grow into top footballers in Kenya and even beyond.

“If well nurtured, the team can scale the heights and become household names in Kenyan soccer and even within the region,” Owalo stated.

Speaking at the event, the school’s principal, Gordon Akoko, who also doubles as the football coach, termed the achievement as a historic milestone.

He added that the visit by the veteran footballers has lifted the team’s spirit and given them hope for future success.

“The team has expressed determination to not only represent Kenya in future football tournaments but also pursue opportunities to play beyond the country’s borders, across the region and internationally,” the coach assured.

Agai Mixed Secondary and Sigoti Complex Girls, both from Nyakach Sub-County, will represent Nyanza in boys’ football and girls’ rugby, respectively, marking their historic debut at the national games championships.
