Property worth millions of shillings was today reduced into ashes at Narok Full Gospel church after a fire razed down a dormitory located at the church compound that houses rescued girls.
The cause of the fire was not immediately established but a spot check by KNA showed the girls trying to rescue property from the dormitory before the fire overwhelmed them.
It took the efforts of the residents to put off the fire after their efforts to contact the County Government Disaster Management Department hit a snag.
Njoroge Kinyanyui who volunteered to use his water truck to put off the fire, asked the county government to service the fire engines in the county so as to help put off fire in case of an outbreak as the incidents were becoming common during this sunny season.
Joseph Karanja, a boda boda operator who is one of those who helped to put off the fire, blamed the county government for not placing any efforts to put off the fire that lasted for an hour without the presence of the county officials.
Francis Waratho, a resident of Majengo area thanked water vendors and water boozers for helping to put off the fire.
