Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has promoted 305 healthcare workers in a ceremony held at the county headquarters.
Lusaka said that the promotions cut across all cadres, including 117 nurses, 36 clinical officers, 18 lab officers, 17 public health officers, 11 pharmaceutical technologists among other specialists.
The governor emphasised that the move was not merely a change in titles, but a recognition of the sacrifices made by frontline health workers and assured the newly promoted officers of his administration’s full support, urging them to serve with humility and purpose.
“Wear your new ranks with pride and lead with compassion, the county and the country at large entrust you with their lives,” he urged.
“My government is commitment to ensuring no mother dies, while giving birth and no child is lost due to delayed healthcare,” he said.
Lusaka noted that the promotions were testament to the dedication and a promise of greater responsibility, adding that no machine, nor building could save lives without the human resources.
“This marks a historic milestone in improving health services across the county,” he said, as he called upon all stakeholders to unite for a healthier and stronger county.
Lusaka assured residents that the initiative was part of his administration’s broader health manifesto aimed at making healthcare a right, not a privilege.
“I promised to strengthen our workforce and improve our facilities. This is the fulfillment of that pledge,” he said.
The governor also confirmed that he would be signing of new partnerships with development agencies to boost infrastructure, training and medical supplies for the county.
