Siaya County Assembly holds special seating in honour of Raila

Siaya County Assembly today held a special seating in honour of the former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, with members hailing his unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy.

Led by Speaker George Okode and his deputy Oduor Odongo, speaker after speaker praised the Orange Democratic Movement leader for his firm stand against oppression and fighting tirelessly for the rights and freedoms of Kenyans.

“His unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy, equity and good governance earned him admirable accolades both at home and across the world,” said Speaker Okode.

Okode said Raila’s leadership, wisdom and devotion to dialogue over division left an indelible mark in Kenya. In Siaya county, the speaker said local residents attribute the excellent leadership to the mentorship of the late Raila, who passed on yesterday morning in India.

During the session, MCAs called for peace and unity as the country mourns the fallen hero.

Raila’s body arrived in the country this morning and he will be buried in Bondo on Sunday.
