Vihiga County is experiencing remarkable economic transformation due to various government projects aimed at improving infrastructure and livelihoods in the region in line with the BETA economic blueprint.
From affordable housing to modern markets and hostels, these projects have not only enhanced the physical environment but also opened up new opportunities for many residents.
One such project that has had a significant impact is the construction of the affordable housing project phase one in Vihiga.
The development has created a ripple effect in the community, providing employment opportunities for locals like Silas Ajega, who has seen his food kiosk thrive as a result of the influx of employees working on the project.
This has not only boosted his business but also led to the employment of more people, further stimulating the local economy.
Similarly, the construction of the Luanda modern market has breathed new life into the town, igniting a flood of business activities. Residents like Mama Debra Alwanje are optimistic about the market’s potential to elevate Luanda’s status as a municipality and attract more commerce to the area.
For young people like Aggrey Busolo, the opportunities created by these projects have been a game-changer, allowing them to plan for a brighter future and secure stable employment.
Moreover, the projects have not only provided immediate benefits but also paved the way for long-term skills development and career growth.
Jessica Andeyo, a graduate of Bondo Technical and Training Institute and a holder of Diploma in Civil Engineering who is an intern at the construction site of the Luanda modern market, sees the project as a valuable opportunity to acquire technical skills that will not only benefit her personally but also empower other women in the community to pursue similar paths.
Upon completion, these projects will be a milestone for the people of Vihiga, elevating the county to a high level of economic transformation as well as moving the nation closer to the realization of vision 2030.
These projects serve as a testament to the power of infrastructure development in driving economic growth and improving the quality of life for the ordinary citizen.
