Exam malpractice cases drop significantly: CS Ogamba

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has lauded examination stakeholders for maintaining the integrity of the just-concluded national examinations.

Speaking during the celebrations to mark the 11th anniversary of Gospel Embassy Chapel in Kisii town, Ogamba noted that 3.4 million learners undertook assessments and examinations.

“Out of the 3.4 million, we only registered 418 instances of malpractices in the whole country, a reduction from 600 in 2024,” said the CS.

He assured the parents, teachers and learners that the government would deliver a smooth transition for the learners to grade 10 in January next year.

The Cabinet Secretary lauded President William Ruto for initiating various development projects in the region, adding that the construction of the University of Nyamira was underway.

“Next year, in September, we will admit the first cohort of the students and therefore, I want to thank you for everything that you are doing,” said Ogamba.

He also thanked the President for supporting the Ministry of Education, particularly in the employment of teachers, curriculum development and resolving stalemates regarding the welfare of teachers.

President Ruto led various leaders from the Gusii region in the celebration of the milestone achieved by the Gospel Embassy Chapel, under the leadership of Pastor Peter Morwabe.
