Nyakach Luo elders resolve to end leadership wrangles

The Luo Council of Elders Nyakach Chapter has unanimously resolve to elect their representatives to the larger community enclave in a bid put to rest persistent internal wrangles over leadership.

The elders declared support for George Arogo Oyugi as the Chairman of the Nyakach Chapter following the elders’ caucus meeting in Kisumu City that brokered a truce among the hitherto feuding branches in the area.

The Luo elders at the same time revoked the earlier crowning of elder Steve Obura as the Chairman after the elder’s conclave amicably reached consensus that the new officials take over the mantle

Obura who was also present at the meeting accepted the new verdict with grace and backed the elevation of the new Chairman, promising to work with the new office bearers and steer development matters in Nyakach.

Obura declared his readiness to support and work with Arogo, including other members of the caucus in steering the council.

Arogo on his part declared his commitment towards spearheading the unity of the Luo community calling on the respective Luo Council of elders branches to forge a united front and speak with one voice ahead of the forthcoming 2027 polls.

“Our agenda as the Luo Council is to forge a united front for the entire Luo community for togetherness is unity hence our community as a united front to gel strength for focusing on development agenda,” pointed Arogo.

He appealed to the residents of Nyakach to forge a united front and ensure that they go to the forthcoming General Elections as a united people working from a united front as the people of Nyakach, especially related to leadership positions.

Rabala Ogendo , the Chairman of the Luo Council of Elders Gem Chapter, urged the community to forge peace working relationship with the new Chairman for the common good of the region.
