Homa Bay Governor and National Chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, Gladys Wanga, has defended the party’s unity and reiterated ODM’s support for President Dr. William Ruto’s leadership.
Speaking during the Nyinam Women Economic Empowerment Programme in Rongo Sub County-Migori, Wanga dismissed claims of divisions within ODM, asserting that those “worried” about the party’s direction are members of the opposition.
She addressed the recent controversy surrounding Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, noting that ODM had extended a formal invitation through party leader Raila Odinga, and criticized Kalonzo’s decision to respond through the media instead of engaging directly.
Kalonzo admitted that he had received an invitation from Raila Odinga to attend the 20th anniversary of the ODM party that will take place in Kisii County on Friday, September 26, 2025, but declined the invitation.
Wanga further stated that ODM has “no regrets and no shame” in forming a broad-based government with Kenya Kwanza and made it clear that the party still stands firmly behind the president.
The governor reaffirmed ODM’s commitment to working with the government to deliver on key promises and empower communities, with a special focus on women and economic development programmes such as Nyinam.
Nyinam Women Economic Empowerment Programme, organized by Migori County Woman Representative Fatuma Mohamed, brought together over 2,500 local women.
The event was also graced by prominent women leaders from Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, and Siaya counties.
