County launches free milk for ECDE learners

At least 68,000 early childhood development education learners in 697 centres are poised to benefit from a free milk feeding programme courtesy of the Kisii County government that was launched on Friday.

Kisii Governor Simba Arati assured that all PP1 and PP2 learners in public institutions will enjoy what he described as a precious commodity.

Flagging off the consignment at the Agricultural Training Centre in the outskirts of Kisii town Friday, Arati said the act was a great transformative move in improving nutrition among the young learners.

The governor who also laid a foundation for a new milk creamery in the area, noted that the foundation stone for the Kisii County Milk Creamery stood as a testament to his commitment to milk value addition and economic empowerment for residents.
This facility, he said, will be a central hub for milk cooperatives, providing reliable structures and a high-capacity market for their milk.
