MP Pledges Continued Support to Schools through NG-CDF

The Kapsigilai Senior Girls School community in Tinderet Sub County on Monday came together for a colourful Thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate improved academic performance and to acknowledge the collective effort that has contributed to the school’s recent success.

Parents, teachers, students, alumni and local leaders attended the event, which was graced by the area Member of Parliament Julius Melly.

The ceremony followed the release of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination results, in which the school registered a 42 per cent transition rate to university.

According to the school administration, 21 candidates attained the minimum university entry grade, a milestone that was hailed as a significant improvement and a source of renewed optimism.

Speaking during the ceremony, Melly congratulated the students for their discipline and resilience, noting that the results reflected determination and consistency.

He said the performance was a clear indication that investment in education yields tangible outcomes.

“These results show that when learners are focused and teachers are supported, success becomes achievable,” he said.

The legislator reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting schools across the constituency through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund.

He said NG-CDF resources would remain a key driver in improving learning infrastructure, including classrooms, dormitories, laboratories, and other essential facilities.

“I will continue to use NG-CDF to improve infrastructure in our schools so that students can learn in a safe and conducive environment,” Melly said, adding that better facilities would contribute to even higher transition rates to universities and other tertiary institutions.

Melly also urged students to remain focused on their academic goals and encouraged parents to continue working closely with school administrations to support learning.

He noted that education remained one of the most effective tools for transforming communities and improving livelihoods in the Sub County.

The chairperson of the Board of Governors, Samuel Kiprotich, attributed the improved results to teamwork among all stakeholders.

He said the ceremony, held on Monday morning, was organised not only to give thanks but also to motivate the current students to aim higher.

“This achievement did not come by chance. It is the product of commitment by our girls, dedication by teachers and unwavering support from parents and leaders,” he said.

Kiprotich noted that the school management had put emphasis on discipline, mentorship and academic support programmes, which he said had started bearing fruit.

He added that the board was working closely with the administration to address remaining challenges, particularly in infrastructure and learning resources, to sustain the upward trajectory.

The thanksgiving ceremony featured prayers, hymns, and performances by students, with messages of encouragement from alumni who urged the learners to remain focused and to take advantage of the opportunities available to them.

Community leaders present called for sustained investment in education and closer collaboration between the government, parents, and school management to further uplift learning standards in the Sub County.

The event concluded with a call for unity and shared responsibility in nurturing academic excellence, as the school community expressed optimism that the school would record even better results in the coming years.
