Residents of Vihiga County are set to enjoy improved healthcare services following the donation of a state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine and printer to Itando Mission Hospital by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation.
The equipment worth Sh3.5 million was handed over to Ms. Joyce Akai Emanikor, the former Woman Representative, in a move hailed as a monumental step towards enhancing healthcare in underserved communities.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who graced the occasion, lauded the KPC Foundation for its philanthropic interventions, noting that strengthening healthcare infrastructure at the grassroots is vital to achieving equitable access across the country.
“This latest initiative is not just a donation. It represents a beacon of hope for countless patients in Vihiga County who will now have improved access to vital medical services. It is a significant stride toward a healthier future for all Kenyans,” Mudavadi said.
He underscored that the installation of the digital X-ray machine would streamline diagnostic processes, cut down on costly referrals to distant hospitals, and enable quicker treatment decisions, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
Emanikor commended the KPC Foundation for its continued investment in community health, education, and sanitation. She emphasized that the donation would significantly transform healthcare delivery in Vihiga by boosting the hospital’s diagnostic capacity.
“This donation is part of our unwavering mission to make a lasting difference in the lives of Kenyans, especially in underserved areas where access to quality healthcare remains a challenge,” she said.
The new X-ray unit is expected to revolutionize diagnostic services at Itando Mission Hospital, enhancing timely and accurate medical evaluations for residents of Vihiga and beyond.
