A section of politicians praise current administration

South Rift Region elected leaders have praised the current administration for addressing the needs of the Maa community, particularly in environmental conservation and education.

The leaders led by National Senate Majority leader Aaron Cheruiyot said the Maasai Mau Forest that was a controversial topic during electioneering season, has now been resolved after President William Ruto issued the forest’s title deed to the county government.

Speaking during a church service at Oloika area, Narok East Sub County, the majority leader   was accompanied by Members of Parliament (MP) Gabriel Tongoyo (Narok West), Hillary Kosgei (Kipkellion West) and former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai.

Cheruiyot praised President Ruto for uniting Kenyans and ensuring development in all corners of the country, saying every community deserves equal development as enshrined in the constitution.

On education, the Senate Majority leader said the current administration had employed over 70, 000 teachers and was set to employ another 24, 000 teachers so as to improve on education standards.

He observed that in the last three years, over 24, 000 classrooms have been built across the country in a bid to improve the learning environment of the students.

“The current administration has employed more teachers than any other government as it has employed about 25 per cent of the teacher population in Kenya,” said Cheruiyot.

Former Narok Governor called on the Maa community not to be deceived by leaders with selfish interests and called on the community to back the current administration because of the many development projects implemented.

He praised President Ruto for initiating many projects in Narok County, despite the county having voted largely to the opposition in the last elections.

Tongoyo on his part called on the Maa community to respect and honour the elected leaders saying leadership comes from God.

He reiterated that experts’ review shows that the new university funding model was moving on a positive trajectory, adding that a lion’s share of the budget was allocated to the education docket.
