Chebai Comprehensive Primary School in Marakwet West Sub-County has received contemporary instructional facilities in the form of a fully equipped modern science laboratory, aimed at enhancing learning and facilitating effective implementation of the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET).
The facility, financed through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NGCDF), is designed to provide learners with learning facilities to enable them to acquire practical skills and scientific competencies in line with national education standards.
Presiding over the commissioning ceremony, Marakwet West Member of Parliament Timothy Kipchumba, emphasized the project’s role in bridging the infrastructural gap between rural and urban learning institutions.
“To ensure that the Competency-Based Education effectively takes shape, we constructed this science laboratory at Chebai Comprehensive School,” he said. “This facility shall ensure that our learners have a level playing field with others across the country when it comes to embracing the new curriculum.”
The legislator underscored that the shift to CBE requires robust infrastructural development to facilitate pragmatic learning, problem-solving, and innovation among learners. He affirmed that his office has prioritized similar infrastructural interventions across the constituency to accelerate curriculum delivery.
“We are delivering the plan. Transforming Marakwet West means investing in modern learning infrastructure and equipping our children with the requisite skills for the future,” Kipchumba added.
Education stakeholders present commended the initiative, noting that the laboratory will strengthen STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) instruction, improve learner performance in science subjects, and inspire career pathways in scientific and technological disciplines.
