City Manager, KNCCI pursue to boost business in Eldoret

Eldoret City Manager Ms. Elzeba Busienei today held discussions with the board of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) – Uasin Gishu Chapter, led by Vice Chairperson Dan Melly.

The extensive consultative meeting was meant to explore ways of strengthening collaboration to smoothen the city’s business environment and make Eldoret a preferred investment destination.

Ms. Busienei praised KNCCI’s commitment to fostering a secure and conducive business climate, noting that such partnerships are vital for establishing a vibrant 24-hour economy. She also encouraged KNCCI to help attract investors and donors to Eldoret, citing the city’s vast potential that has not been fully utilized.

Melly acknowledged the county’s strides in urban development, particularly the installation of street lighting, which he said made the city secure and eased traffic flow.

He emphasized the need for expanded lighting and improved security within the Central Business District (CBD) to support extended business hours.

He further proposed structured planning to address congestion, advocating for engagement with transport SACCOs to introduce modern buses on high-traffic routes like Langas and Kimumu, noting it would ease peak-hour traffic and improve city mobility.

Board members urged full implementation of the Eldoret Spatial Plan to enhance zoning and reduce CBD conflicts.

In response, Ms. Busienei reaffirmed her commitment to transforming Eldoret into a greener, more organized, and economically vibrant city.
