Clergy urged to take the lead to fast-track restoration in society

As the year 2026 approaches, church ministers have been urged to be on the frontline to fast-track restoration in the church, families, and the community at large.

Bishop Gabriel Kamau, Patron, Nyahururu Clergy Forum, said as the year 2026 approaches, the Clergy should position themselves on the frontline as examples to instill much-needed moral, spiritual and economic restoration in the church and society at large.

Bishop Kamau, who was speaking during the end-of-year prayers and thanksgiving service in Nyahururu town, organised by Nyahururu Clergy Forum, challenged the clerics to lead their congregations, notably in prayers, which he said would herald restoration in many other sectors of society.

He challenged the clergy to learn from David in the bible who at first failed to do as required in regard to carrying of the ark of covenant which angered God hence struck Uriah dead however, he later did what was right by choosing the priests to lead in carrying the ark of covenant.

Despite the many challenges being faced, the cleric challenged Christians to have faith in the word of God and believe that he is concerned with what they are going through.

While delivering a sermon from the book of Isaiah 22:11 Bishop John Kariuki of Redeemed Church Nyahururu reiterated the importance of applying principle of reciprocity of offering thanks to God for whatever good he has done.

Bishop Kariuki warned congregants against trivializing what God has done for them in their families, and community at large by assuming it is through their abilities or money they are where they are but rather should show gratitude to God.

“People fail to give thanks to God because they overrate their wisdom, abilities, education and talents and they believe that their efforts and their connections have brought them this far,” noted the cleric.

He also noted that others fail to thank God for their lives by comparing themselves with their peers who might be doing better than them and hence fail to see what God has done or is doing in their lives.

He reiterated that though there are many challenges , there are also many good things God has done to the country and in the lives of Kenyans hence need for being grateful to Him adding that the act of thanksgiving is a higher form of worship.

During the prayer and thanksgiving service the church dedicated the country and year 2026 to God.
