Concerns over wave of Political violence in Kasipul

Rachuonyo South Sub County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Denis Kieti has put politicians on notice over the wave of intolerance and violence witnessed in the lead up the coming by election in Kasipul constituency.

He warned that those found culpable of instigating acts of lawlessness will be held to account for their action irrespective of their status in the society saying families of the victims were left orphaned or widowed.

He regretted that due to these acts of political thuggery and violence attributed to political competition, the end result has left families without fathers increasing the number of vulnerable children in society.

“No one is above the law. Political violence meted against political opponents cannot be allowed to continue,” the DCC said in a speech delivered on his behalf by assistant county commissioner Gichuki Mbogo during the launch of the children service month, an event organized by the judiciary Oyugis law court and held at Joshua children home in Nyangiela ,Konwong’a location.

He said what happened on 6th November, 2025 where two people lost their lives due to political violence was the most unfortunate incident and the security organs are pursuing the suspects who are on the run to bring them justice

The DCC who was the chief guest during the occasion urged the people of Kasipul constituency to let their youth know politics is neither personal nor a do or die

“How can we walk with pangas and machetes in a civilized society?” He posed.

Earlier Senior Principal Magistrate and head of Oyugis station Hon. Samson Ongeri had called for the end of political violence witnessed in the subcounty and especially in Oyugis town

“we pray that the violence can be brought down because innocent children are hurt when their parents are killed, their brothers and sisters are hurt; they are affected some become destitute, lets slow down the violence, let’s bring down the cases of violence against each other so that we don’t have many orphans in society,” the magistrate said.

As judiciary we also urge parents to take their children to school because we have seen so many cases of children roam in Oyugis town when other children are in school.

Let every parent be keen on the whereabouts of their children,” he said and    called for concerted effort from all children stakeholders to mop up all the children when schools reopen to ensure they all attend school
