County, bank collaborate to equip youth with skills, jobs

Vihiga  County Government  has announced plans to deepen its collaboration with KCB Bank Kenya and the KCB Foundation to strengthen youth empowerment initiatives across the county.

This follows a courtesy visit to Governor Dr Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo by representatives from KCB and the Foundation on Friday morning.

The discussions centred on expanding the KCB Foundation’s 2jiajiri Programme, which supports youth entrepreneurship through market-driven skills development.

Under the planned partnership, young people enrolled in Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) will benefit from short, employability-focused courses aligned to National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) standards.

The programme will provide technical training, incubation, business mentorship and starter kits to help beneficiaries transition into self-employment or secure wage employment.

So far, 30 trainees at Nzalwa VTC have benefited from the pilot phase of the initiative.

The County Government aims to scale up the programme to reach 500 learners across various VTCs in its first phase of expansion.

The initiative will enhance youth skills development, promote enterprise growth and contribute to job creation efforts in Vihiga.
