The National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) Chairperson, Agnes Zani, has assured Kenyans that they will deliver on their mandate within the timelines.
Dr Zani urged the public to have confidence in the committee, saying that they now have a full picture of what Kenyans want addressed.
She noted that the political class has been putting pressure on the team to speed up their report.
The committee tasked with overseeing the implementation of the 10-point agenda was conducting a public participation exercise in Homa Bay County over the weekend.
The 10-point agenda was signed by the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and President William Ruto on behalf of the ODM and UDA parties, respectively.
The team has a timeline of march 7 to present the report.
Zani gave assurance that her team will put together all the opinions and make a final report, which will then be presented to President William Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga.
“We are not the implementers but our role is to ensure what Kenyans have asked for is implemented. The final report will be made public,” Dr Zani said.
A section of political leaders have accused the committee of not making any meaningful progress despite having adequate time to make a final report.
Dr Zani explained that it took some time to put together a document on issues that Kenyans want to be addressed.
“We go through each of the proposals sent to us and ask ourselves what action is required and what are the key performance indicators for us to know which action has been adhered to,” she said.
Her Deputy Javas Bigambo, said the team has received a lot of support from President Ruto and Dr Oginga.
But he also accused some politicians of putting undue pressure on them.
“Politicians should give the necessary support to this committee. Some say the committee has done zero work. This committee does not implement anything, but the implementers are various ministries, departments, agencies and parastatals,” Mr Bigambo said.
He added that some of the issues which Kenyans want to be addressed can only be implemented after a referendum.
“The things which may not be implemented by March 7 will be presented to President Ruto and Dr Oburu Oginga to decide on what needs to be done to ensure the 10-point agenda is fully implemented,” Mr Bigambo said.
The team is conducting public participation across different counties.
In Homa Bay, residents called for strengthened devolution and an enhanced fight against corruption.
