Don’t hide behind parties, Mbeere North aspirant challenges competitors

Mbeere North Constituency aspirant in the upcoming by-election Duncan Mbui, has urged his competitors to showcase their performance records rather than relying on their political party affiliations to get elected.

Mbui, who is vying on the Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) Party, said his opponents should stop riding on party popularity to win voters, but instead demonstrate to voters why they should be elected based on their past performance record.

The aspirant who is the outgoing MCA for Evurore Ward, claimed that his performance record demonstrates his abilities and challenged opponents to outline their contributions to the people of Mbeere North to justify their bid for election as Member of Parliament.

However, he urged voters to reject the UDA candidate supported by the Government, claiming that the administration had betrayed residents by failing to fulfill promises made during the 2022 General Election.

Speaking when he received defectors from rival camps yesterday, Mbui said it was high time locals need to stand for truth and reject the government-backed candidate after it failed to deliver on its pledges including those about roads and water projects.

Mbui accused the ruling coalition of hypocrisy, saying the same leaders who lied to Mbeere residents in 2022 were now returning to seek votes through a new candidate without fulfilling their earlier commitments.

He said the constituency overwhelmingly voted for the Kenya Kwanza Government, expecting major development projects in return, but were now left with nothing to show for their support.

Mbui also challenged President William Ruto to fulfill the promises he made to Mbeere residents before asking for their political support once again, saying residents were tired of listening to promises that never materialize.

Mbui further criticised former MP Geoffrey Ruku, now a Cabinet Secretary (CS), accusing him of meddling in Mbeere North politics instead of focusing on his national duties.

He asked CS Ruku to let locals decide their next leader without interference.

The defectors reportedly came from the camps of UDA candidate Leonard Muthende and Democratic Party (DP) aspirant Newton Karish.
