Fathers urged to take lead in supporting families and education

Catholic priest Reverend Father Martin Chibole has called on fathers to take greater responsibility in supporting their families and ensuring their children access education.

Speaking during the burial service of a Catholic faithful in Chavakali, Rev. Chibole warned against neglect of parental duties, noting that absentee and irresponsible fatherhood continued to negatively affect families and society.

He emphasized the important role of fathers as heads of families and urged them to prioritize their children’s schooling and actively participate in their upbringing.

The priest noted that education remains a key foundation for a better future and encouraged parents, especially fathers, to work closely with their spouses in guiding and nurturing their children.

“Fathers must lead by example by providing for their families and ensuring their children remain in school,” he said.

He reminded families of the importance of unity, responsibility, and moral values in building strong communities.

He further urged community leaders and religious institutions to continue sensitizing families on the importance of responsible parenting.

The message serves as a reminder of the vital role parents play in shaping the future of society through commitment, care, and support for their children.

Chibole’s remarks come amid growing concern over rising cases of school dropouts and family instability in parts of Vihiga County.
