Former GSU coach arrives in Amagoro after covering 400kms walk

A former General Service Unit (GSU) volleyball head coach, Moses Epoloto, arrived in Amagoro Monday after covering a 400km distance from All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi for a charity walk that started on October 6.

On arrival at Amagoro, Epoloto was met by Apostle Benson Oriama, the Malaba ACK Vicar General at the Kocholia bridge, before being escorted to Katakwa Diocesan headquarters, where he was received by Bishop John Okude.

Also flanking the bishop was St. Thomas Amagoro Vicar General Isbalella Inyele Imo, diocesan Administrative Secretary Milton Barasa, retired mother’s union coordinator, Jane Opollo and current coordinator Selencia Idewa.

Addressing the press, Bishop Okude said when Epoloto’s father passed away, the church building had not been completed. When I asked him, he assured me he would seek the help of his friends.

“Thanks for arriving in Katakwa Diocese after a treacherous walk. Despite retiring from your duties, you can still trek for over 400km to raise money for the completion of the church,” he noted.

Bishop Okude added:” The youth should emulate such a kind gesture because they are more energetic. Mzee Fredrick Opeto Epoloto would have been infuriated if he had walked up from the grave to find the church in the same state he left it at,” said the bishop.

” I told my pastor Justin Njoroge of my plans to raise about Sh4million complete our rural church,” Epoloto recalled.

” I have received many messages from friends wondering what I am doing. I believe we shall do it. I thank KBC and NTV Uganda for having aired my story. I think they can do it over and over again.

I think, when I am finally done with my mission that extends into Uganda in the next phase, most of the media outlets will be there to confirm the amount raised towards completion of the church,” he said.
