The 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations officially commenced on Monday with a total of 11,094 candidates sitting for their exams across Laikipia County.
Speaking during the official opening of the examinations storage container in Nanyuki, Laikipia County Director of Education, Bridget Wambua, said all logistical and security arrangements had been finalized to ensure smooth administration of the exams.
“We have 11,094 candidates distributed across all sub-counties in Laikipia. All preparations, including logistical arrangements, have been completed, and we expect a seamless exercise,” said Wambua.
She disclosed that one female candidate from Laikipia North Sub-County gave birth and developed complications but would continue with her exams from Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital.
“There is a girl from Laikipia North who gave birth and is currently admitted at Nanyuki Level 5 Hospital, where she will be sitting her examinations,” Wambua said.
To enhance examination security and curb malpractice, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) recently rolled out smart padlocks for storage containers across the county. KNEC Chief Executive Officer David Njegere said the technology was designed to strengthen the integrity and transparency of the national examination process.
A total of 996,078 candidates are sitting for the 2025 KCSE examinations countrywide. The written papers began on Monday, following oral and practical tests that started on October 21, and will conclude on November 21, 2025.
