Admission of the pioneer Grade 10 cohort into senior schools under the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system began smoothly today across various institutions in Kirinyaga County.
At St. Faustina Kerugoya Girls’ Senior School, learners arrived early in the morning accompanied by their parents and guardians to complete the admission process.

The exercise was orderly and well-coordinated, with members of the teaching staff on hand to guide both learners and parents through the required procedures.
School officials ensured that admission desks were clearly marked, enabling students to move seamlessly through stages including document verification, uniform inspection and clearance into the Kenya Education Management Information System (KEMIS).
Scouts and support staff were also deployed to assist parents and learners, especially those unfamiliar with the new admission process.
St. Faustina Kerugoya Girls’ Senior School, categorised as a C1 institution under the CBE curriculum, is set to admit a total of 520 learners.
The students will enrol in one of three pathways offered by the school: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM); Social Sciences; or Sports and Arts.
Parents who arrived early expressed satisfaction with the smooth flow of the exercise, noting that the presence of teachers and student leaders helped reduce congestion and confusion.
The smooth start to admission reflects preparedness by schools in the county as Kenya implements the senior school phase of the CBE system, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing education reforms.
