Postal Corporation of Kenya employees in Kisii County have downed their tools over 6 months unpaid salaries and alleged failure by the Corporation to remit statutory deductions.
Speaking in Kisii Town this morning, the employees who are members of the Communication Workers Union, called out the management over alleged mismanagement of resources leading to their myriads of problems.
The Union Branch Chairman Job Mumo queried why the organization was making statutory deductions without remitting them to the relevant organisations including medical schemes, saccos and pension.
Mumo said life was becoming unbearable adding the branch which had 50 employees would not tolerate working without pay any longer.
The Branch Secretary Tom Mboya said they were not able to take Sacco loans because they have not been paid for 6 months, pushing some into debt and depression due to failure to afford basic needs for their families.
The Secretary demanded to know where the money they were making in terms of profits was disappearing to.
He said the unionists would continue with their strike until they are paid their salaries and all deductions remitted.
Branch Treasurer Risper Mongei expressed frustration over the management’s silence despite posting profits over the last six months according to the Postal Corporation of Kenya Chief Executive Officer John Tonui.
