Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr has inspected the ongoing construction of the new Mbooni Family Hospital in Kikima town, Mbooni West Sub-County, to assess its progress.
The Sh46 million state-of-the-art facility is being funded by the county government and will have a 150-bed capacity. It will host modern departments including a mother and Child unit, laboratory, casualty wing, pharmacy, and a fully equipped theatre.
Governor Mutula expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction, assuring residents that the hospital will be completed before the end of the year. He emphasized that the project is part of his administration’s broader plan to expand access to quality and affordable healthcare across the county.
“The hospital, once complete, will transform healthcare services in this area by offering specialized services,” said Governor Mutula during the inspection on Thursday.
He added that several other health projects are also underway to strengthen Makueni’s healthcare system.
Residents of Mbooni and neighboring areas are expected to benefit significantly from the new hospital, which aims to reduce congestion in existing facilities and improve maternal, child, and emergency care services.
