Migori County Assembly eulogizes late former PM Raila Amolo Odinga

Migori County Assembly has eulogised the Late Former Prime Minister (PM) Raila Amolo Odinga for his selfless efforts to make Kenya a better country.

Speaking during a special session to eulogise Raila, Migori County Assembly Speaker Christopher Rusana said that Kenyans enjoy the freedom they have because of the Late Former Premier.

He said that thanks to Raila, the 2010 Constitution, which he passionately championed, brought devolution to the county.

The speaker stated that devolution has brought power, resources, the decision-making process, and accountability down to the county level.

He recalled how, before the 2010 constitution, resources were unfairly distributed to those in support of the government, but Raila’s leadership ensured that all Kenyans are heard and their interests represented.

“It is important to safeguard what Raila fought for to ensure we fully benefit from it to make this nation great,” he said.

Deputy Speaker Matthews Chacha, in his eulogy, explained that despite Raila being jailed and tortured, he reached out to his torturers and reconciled with them, a forgiving heart that all seeking leadership positions should emulate.

“Politicians should be able to forgive those who wronged them because holding grudges will not help build this nation,”said Chacha.

North Kanyamkago MCA, George Omamba, eulogized Raila by saying that when God has allowed us to serve in leadership positions, we should be reminded and guided by the characteristics of Raila Amolo Odinga.

“Indeed, leadership can be nurtured, and the Late Premier has shown us that hard work and dedication can take one far in a political career,” he said.

The MCA said that Raila’s death should be a unifying factor for Kenyans to enable us to realise what he fought for to ensure this country is a better place to live in.
