The Migori Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Branch will host this year’s regional agricultural show, scheduled to take place from September 25th to 27th, 2025, at the Migori Showground, Lichota.
Speaking to KNA, the planning committee, chaired by George Ongono, Chairperson of the South West Kenya Branch, Migori Agricultural Show, revealed that the show will run under the theme “Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Sustainable Economic Growth.”
Over 60 exhibitors from sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, banking, education, hospitality, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are expected to participate.
Ongono added that schools, institutions, and farmers will also showcase their innovations and best practices that promote climate change initiatives and smart agriculture.
Ongono noted that the event will be more than an exhibition, with side events such as field days, football matches, and interactive forums to promote agriculture among youth.
He said that stakeholders in climate-smart agriculture have been invited, adding that the water catchment projects will be showcased to encourage sustainable-smart farming practices among Migori farmers.
Organisers are working with the National Government and the National Show Committee (NSC) to ensure that lessons from the exhibition are implemented beyond the three-day event.
“We want people to leave with knowledge they can put into practice, not just memories of what they saw,” said Ongono
Migori County Secretary Oscar Olima said that organisers expect about 20,000 visitors, a significant increase from attendance figures recorded five years ago.
The Migori show, which started as a Harambee show in the 1980s, has grown into a South Western Kenya branch that has managed to attract more than 40 exhibitors every year, drawn from the banking, manufacturing, hospitality, small and medium enterprises, education, and agriculture sectors, with a lot of innovative and new technologies to be displayed.
