MPs want project implementation accelerated

Tinderet Member of Parliament Julius Melly Friday convened a strategic meeting with critical stakeholders in the constituency to evaluate the status of ongoing projects.

Melly said the meeting attended by, among others, the staff from the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) and the Uwezo Fund at the Maraba NG-CDF office planned on future initiatives to ensure that all development programs were implemented efficiently and effectively.

“The meeting aimed at evaluating the performance of ongoing projects, planning future initiatives, and ensuring that all development programs within the constituency are implemented efficiently and effectively,” the MP said.

During the session, Melly urged both NG-CDF and Uwezo Fund officials to ensure that ongoing and upcoming projects are executed within the set timelines.

He emphasized that timely completion of projects is critical in delivering tangible benefits to the residents of Tinderet, adding that delayed project implementation affects service delivery and reduces the impact of development initiatives meant to uplift communities.

“Projects financed through the NG-CDF and supported by the Uwezo Fund must be implemented on time. This is not just about meeting deadlines; it is about ensuring that the people of Tinderet can access the services and infrastructure they need to improve their lives,” said Melly.

He further called for enhanced coordination between project implementers, fund administrators, and local leaders to eliminate bottlenecks that have previously slowed down development work.

The MP also highlighted the importance of timely processing and disbursement of bursaries and grants. He stressed that bursaries for students and grants for youth, women, and persons with disabilities must be delivered promptly to ensure maximum benefit to the community.

“When bursaries and grants are delayed, students are at risk of missing educational opportunities, and local groups miss out on resources needed to start or expand businesses. We must ensure that these funds reach the intended beneficiaries without unnecessary delays,” Melly noted.

In addition, the legislator called for regular monitoring and reporting of all ongoing projects. He encouraged officials to adopt clear feedback mechanisms that allow timely identification of challenges and swift resolution.

He said that improved accountability and transparency would not only enhance public trust but also ensure that every shilling allocated to development projects is utilized optimally.

The meeting also served as a platform for discussing strategies to improve community participation in development programmes with Melly pointing out that involving local residents in planning and oversight helps in prioritizing projects that address the most pressing needs.

He further emphasized that collaborative efforts between the NG-CDF, Uwezo Fund, and constituency leadership was essential in ensuring that development initiatives translate into meaningful social and economic benefits.
