Operations at Murang’a County Assembly have been digitized after the launch of an E-Assembly system with the aim of improving efficiency and service delivery.
This follows issuance of digital gadgets to all MCAs, to help them engage and debate on matters of the house digitally.
The system launched on Tuesday at the Assembly, is designed to transform the way legislative business is conducted by digitizing key processes including tabling of motions, review of proceedings, management of petitions, and access to order papers.
The Assembly Speaker, Johnson Mukuha, affirmed that the House is fully equipped and ready to operate on digital platforms.
He emphasized that the use of digital gadgets previously distributed to all MCAs, will be instrumental in operating the E-Assembly system effectively.
“The system will cut costs associated with printing, improve access to documents, and enable seamless tracking and approval of Assembly business.
“Our MCAs can now access order papers, bills, and other documents electronically, both within and outside the chamber,” stated the Speaker.
He noted that this move aligns with modern governance practices and reflects the Assembly’s dedication to improved service delivery and legislative performance.
Speaking during the same occasion, Governor Irungu Kang’ata, applauded the Assembly’s commitment to innovation, describing the E-Assembly system as a critical milestone in enhancing efficiency, transparency, and service delivery within the legislative arm of the county.
The digital systems, he said, will also make it easier to incorporate public opinion into decision-making, ultimately resulting in better governance.
“This marks a new chapter in Murang’a’s governance. From motions to public petitions, the entire legislative process will now be handled digitally. I commend the Speaker and the Assembly for their bold steps toward modernization,” said Kang’ata.
He added, “The system complements ongoing efforts to digitize key functions such as hospital services and revenue collection, areas that have already recorded a significant rise in efficiency, including an 18 percent jump in revenue over the last Financial Year,”
During the occasion, Governor Kang’ata also unveiled Tendekeza platform – a new Financial Management System aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in County operations.
He underscored digitization of key services in the County, saying provision of services have improved and the County has been able to effectively collect and prudently utilize resources.
“Murang’a County Administration will continue to digitize operations in all sectors thus to improve efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery,” he added.
