Nakuru Women Rep calls for peaceful 2027 campaigning

Nakuru Women Representative Liza Chelule has called on residents to maintain peace and unity, emphasising that there is no cause for alarm ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Elburgon, Chelule cautioned politicians against spreading fear or hate speech that could trigger violence and social unrest. She urged leaders to conduct campaigns that promote cohesion and national harmony.

“We, the political class, must refrain from statements likely to incite violence among Kenyans who have been living peacefully. Let us not glorify conflict or war,” Chelule said.

The legislator criticized opposition leaders for spreading claims of anticipated post-election violence, describing such remarks as reckless and counterproductive to national peace.

Her comments follow a security meeting chaired by Governor Susan Kihika two days ago, which brought together the National Government County Security Team, led by County Commissioner Dr. Loyford Kibaara, and the County Executive. The meeting focused on strengthening security across Nakuru.

Governor Kihika directed security agencies to increase patrols and ensure residents in all 55 wards feel safe and protected.

Chelule’s message underscores the importance of peaceful conduct, civic responsibility, and collaboration between political leaders and security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming election.
