Narok commissions eight ECDE classrooms in Sagamian

The Narok county government has completed the construction of eight Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) classrooms in Sagamian ward to ensure a conducive learning environment for the young children.

The fully equipped ECDE centres include Kondamet, Kebeneti, Quarry, Kabarak Choronok, Chesoen, Uswet, Cheptuiyet and Muteldo.

Speaking while commissioning a fully equipped ECDE classroom at Kabarak Choronok primary school, Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu said the county government holds the vital responsibility of providing early childhood education to pre- primary learners, besides overseeing Technical and Vocational Training Institutes.

“With the enhanced learning infrastructure, school-going children across the ward will now enjoy spacious facilities that support both learning and play, reduced walking distances that encourage regular school attendance and improved academic outcomes,” he reiterated,

The governor stated that all the classrooms were equipped with child -friendly facilities to promote holistic growth and development of the child, while enhancing the quality of early childhood education.

“The new modern classrooms are expected to boost enrollment, while at the same time significantly enhancing the quality of early childhood education offered to the community,” he said.

Ntutu observed that the children currently learning at Chesoen ECDE had to walk a long journey to Tendwet primary school, while those at Kabarak Choronok ECDE had to walk several kilometers to Choronok primary school in pursuit of education.

“This is the true meaning of devolution, where even the people living in remote areas can feel the presence of the government. We want to make quality learning more accessible in every village,” he added.

“From the very start, we embraced a people-centered approach placing public participation at the core of every decision we make. The voices of the people in this ward have guided our progress,” expounded Ntutu.

Sagamian Ward Member of County Assembly Stephen Koech said some schools in the ward had received their first ever permanent classroom.

“The classrooms will greatly enhance the quality of early learning, as the young children will be more comfortable, free from dust and cold.
