Narok Governor urges staff to embrace performance contracting

Narok County Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has urged county government employees to embrace performance-based contracting, emphasising that it is essential in measuring individual contributions to local development.

Speaking during the annual Performance Contracting (PC) function held at the county government offices, Governor Ntutu acknowledged that the implementation process has faced some challenges.

He noted that the county is working to streamline the process to ensure that all staff understand and adhere to performance contracting requirements.

To achieve this, the county government has introduced several measures, including training and capacity-building programmes for employees, particularly those in lower cadres; proper staff placement by the County Public Service Board; adequate facilitation; and the provision of necessary equipment.

The Governor said these interventions will enable employees to execute their duties efficiently and meet residents’ expectations.

He dismissed claims that performance contracting is intended as a witch-hunting tool, stressing that its purpose is to identify gaps that impede service delivery and provide a framework for improvement.

Governor Ntutu also revealed plans to construct a new County Headquarters office, with construction set to begin before the end of this year’s festive season and expected to be completed within six months.

The facility, he noted, will provide employees with a decent workspace, allowing them to deliver exemplary services to the public.

He instructed executive staff members to adhere strictly to their commitments under performance contracts, noting that these agreements remain a key indicator of the county’s overall performance.

The Governor further encouraged departments to foster teamwork, saying stronger collaboration will enhance productivity and help achieve more comprehensive results across all county services.
