Ol Joorok Secondary School beat Kahuho Secondary School 5 goals against 4 through penalties after the two teams drew 0—0 in football during Nyandarua County zones ball games held at Nyahururu Stadium Friday and Saturday.
Also, the games saw Ruiru Secondary School beating Ndaragwa Girls 5-0 in girls’ football, while Ndaragwa Girls overpowered Raichiri Girls 22 set against 16 in netball.
In boys’ volleyball, defending champion Kambaa Secondary retained first position after beating Githunguchu Secondary School 3-0 sets, while Ngaindeithia Secondary secured 3- 1 sets against Githunguchu Secondary in girls’ volleyball.
Before identifying the winners, the games had kicked off on Friday with preliminaries, then proceeded to semi-finals, where in boys’ volleyball games Kambaa Secondary won against Kanguu Secondary with 3 sets to 0 while Githunguchu Secondary school beat Ngaindeithia Secondary 3 sets to 2 in girls volleyball, where Kambaa met Githunguchu and won the game.
For girls volleyball semi finals Githunguchu Secondary beat defending champion Gatimu Girls, 3 sets to 1 while Weru Secondary faced Ngaindeithia Secondary, with Ngaindeithia Secondary emerging the winner with 3 sets to 2. Ngaindeithia then met Githunguchu and emerged the winner.
In the semi-finals of football, defending champion Ol Bollosat Secondary was beaten by Kahuho Secondary 1-0, while Ol Joroorok had defeated Gideon Elite Boys Centre 1-0 to meet Kahuho in the finals and won the game.
In girls’ semi-final football games, Ruiru Secondary had won 4-0 against Ol Joorok while Ndaragwa girls beat defending champion Murichu Girls, 2-0 only to be defeated 5-0 in the finals by Ruiru Secondary.
Secretary, Nyandarua North Secondary Schools Association, Mr. James Kihara appreciated the teams that participated in the ball games and all the organisers.
Mr. Kihara said the ball games in Nyandarua County are categorized into three zones; zone A comprising of Nyandarua South Sub County, Kipipiri and Kinangop Sub counties.
“Zone B comprises Mirangine, Nyandarua Centraland Wanjohi Sub counties while zone C comprises Nyandarua North, Nyandarua West, Aberdare and Gathanji Sub Counties,” added Kihara.
The Secretary further pointed out that the ball games being held in the second term include volleyball, football, rugby sevens, netball and basketball 3 by 3.
Mr. Kihara noted that in the first term, the schools participate in athletics, handball, basketball (regular), hockey, as well as rugby 15.
The Secretary said the winners and the first runners up will proceed to the County finals that will be held next weekend at Nyahururu Stadium.
