Ohangla musician involved in fatal Nyakach road accident

Popular Ohangla musician Javan Mc Ojudo was involved in a tragic road accident on Friday evening in Nyakach, Kisumu County.

His vehicle reportedly collided head-on with a boda boda, killing the rider on the spot.

According to Kisumu County Police Commander Hillary Toroitich, the accident occurred at around 6:00 pm.

Preliminary investigations, he said, indicate that Mc Ojudo, who was driving a Subaru Outback (registration KBP 504M) from Kendu Bay towards Katito, attempted to overtake a fleet of vehicles when he collided with an oncoming motorcycle.

The motorcycle rider, identified as John Chibole Muyirikha, 60, sustained severe head and leg injuries due to the impact and died on the spot.

Toroitich noted that the deceased was not wearing a helmet or reflective gear at the time of the crash.

The body was taken to Nyakach Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending autopsy, while both the motorcycle and the vehicle were impounded at Katito Police station for inspection as investigations continue.

Toroitich asked motorists to strictly observe traffic rules and appealed to boda riders to always wear helmets and reflective gear to prevent such tragedies.
