A total of 31,627 candidates are sitting for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in Migori County this year.
According to Migori County Director of Education, Jacob Onyiego, the county has 290 examination centres spread across 12 sub-counties. He noted that the number of boys candidates at 15,909, is slightly higher than that of girls at 15,708.
Onyiego added that the number of examination centres had dropped from 312 to 290 due to the reduction of private centres. Despite this, Migori County recorded a notable increase in candidature, from 26,989 in 2024 to 31,627 in 2025, representing a 17 percent rise.
Across the country, 996,078 KCSE candidates are sitting for English Functional Skills in the morning session, followed by Chemistry Paper One in the afternoon.
The 2025 KCSE examinations began on October 21 with oral and practical papers. Written examinations officially commenced today, November 3, and are scheduled to conclude on November 21, 2025.
Education officials in Migori have assured the public that adequate measures are in place to ensure the smooth administration of the exams across all centres.
