Political aspirants woo residents to turn up and vote

By election aspirants in Ekerenyo ward of North Mugirango Constituency have wooed residents to come out early and in large numbers and vote so that they can get to know their elected leader today.

UPA aspirant Jeremiah Ongaro has expressed great concern of a low turn up of voters to polling stations and are besieging residents to come out from their homes and vote so that they can get this by election exercise finalised in record time.

“I’m appealing to voters to stop standing by the roadsides aimlessly without coming to the polling stations to vote, make your decision early by voting so you stop decrying the lack of development since you never came out to vote,” Ongaro urged.

Ford Kenya aspirant Margaret Nyanchama who also cast her vote at Gekendo DOK Primary School said people need to come out and choose their leaders early because they have been given that opportunity.

“Come out in large numbers to vote and ensure you avoid bribery because you know who can work for you and spearhead development projects. Don’t aimlessly linger around polling centres, go home after voting and wait for the results to be announced because hoovering around the polling stations wastes your time or endangers you to be marked as someone out to disrupt this peaceful exercise,” aspirant Nyanchama urged.

The aspirants observed that though the exercise is generally peaceful in most polling stations at Ekerenyo ward, there is a slow turn up of voters especially the Gen Zs. The aspirants are appealing to security personnel to ensure that peace is maintained the whole day till the announcement of the by elections winners.

Nyamira County is conducting by- elections in three wards which are; Nyamaiya, Ekerenyo and Borabu on Thursday November 27, 2025.
