Residents laud governor’s initiative to open feeder roads

Residents of Nyansiongo ward in Borabu constituency, Nyamira County have appreciated Governor Amos Nyaribo’s initiative to open up county feeder marram roads to enhance transport and communication networking.

Matutu Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church area to Amakara junction, a very busy feeder road for worshipers, traders and farmers had become impassable and paralyzed transportation due to its wanting state because it remained unrepaired for several years. Residents have appreciated the ministry of roads and public works, roads and transport for considering to facelift and make it motorable.

Thomas Orina Nyakundi from Matutu village said that the road which serves very many people has for several years given them a hell of time to navigate through it because of its poor condition.

“Whenever we are attending worship services and having requiem services for departed ones, it becomes very taxing to navigate through this road when it rains forcing us to carry the casket to long distances to access the church. The decision by the county government to marram this road is welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Ms. Carren Nyaboke, a vegetable farmer was very excited that she would be able to comfortably transport her vegetables to Nyansiongo market because most bodaboda riders completely refused to carry luggage from that area since the road was ruggedly bumpy and slippery during rainy seasons.

“The riders decry over high rates of motorcycle breakages making repair and servicing of their motorcycles very costly. Therefore, they charged expensively to transport my vegetables to the market. We request residents to give engineers all the support and cooperation they require during the time they will be constructing roads in Nyansiongo ward and ensure they adhere to safety measures to avoid any reports of injuries or property damage.” Nyaboke appealed.

In January this year, Governor Amos Nyaribo launched a programme dubbed Governor ‘Barabara Mashinani’ where he flagged off bulldozers, road graders and tippers to start construction of county 400KMs marram roads in the entire county in a bid to improve road networks and communication. The initiative has borne much in expediting transport and communication services in the county.
