Rev. Vitalis Oduor Installed as Nyanza South Bishop

Vitalis Oduor has been consecrated as the new Bishop of the Redeemed Gospel Church Nyanza South Region.

Bishop Oduor, who was previously the senior Pastor of the Redeemed Gospel Church in Oyugis, takes over from Bishop Moses Chengo, whose term of service elapsed.

Speaking during the installation ceremony at Agoro Sare High School in Oyugis town, the Church’s Founder and Archbishop Arthur Kitonga urged Bishop Oduor to serve the church diligently so that God would uplift his work to even greater heights.

The Archbishop lauded the Presiding Bishop John Kitonga and other leaders of the church for their collective focus on the church’s vision and purpose.

He also encouraged the congregants to foster peaceful coexistence within their families and embrace forgiveness in their daily interactions.

Bishop Oduor thanked God and the leadership of the church, as well as the congregants for the support throughout his years of service at the church.

His new position will see him oversee the churches in Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii and Nyamira Counties, and some parts of Kisumu, up to Ahero Junction.

Homabay Deputy Governor Oyugi Magwanga, who was present at the event, called on religious leaders to preach peace and unity as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.

Magwanga said that violence associated with politics is usually recorded as the country nears the electioneering period.

The Deputy Governor warned that when the church, which is supposed to be the voice of the voiceless, remains silent, the country’s social cohesion will deteriorate.

He also called on the residents of Homabay to support the county government and the MP-elect for Kasipul, Boyd Were, who won the constituency seat in the just-concluded by-elections.
