The Safaricom Foundation has made an additional commitment to rehabilitate a school that hosts children with disabilities and a hospital in each county to support the government.
Speaking during the handover of three classrooms and an office at Kitere Primary school in Rongo Sub-County, the Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom, Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi, said that Safaricom Foundation will continue to partner with the Ministries of Education and Health in the sector of infrastructure to provide the much-needed support for the betterment of the Kenyan society.

The Sh2.5 million infrastructure project of three Early Childhood Education (ECD) classes and an office at Kitere Primary School was funded by the Safaricom Foundation and Kepher Okoth, a resident of Kitere and the Sh5 million grand winner of the ‘shine kenya shinda mamili kama bingwa’, a Safaricom competition that ran in 2024.
Fawzia said that 31 communities across Kenya benefited from the projects initiated by the 31 millionaires of the ‘Shida Mamili Promotion’.
She stated that education is one of the pillars that the company supports infrastructurally, adding that the Ministry of Education has made significant efforts to ensure that Kenyan children have an enabling environment in which to learn, with a current enrolment level of approximately 99 percent.
Safaricom Foundation has already impacted the lives of about five million Kenyans, and according to Fawzia, the milestone has been achieved thanks to the 50 million Kenyans who continue to support the company daily.
Kepher Okoth, the 2024 five million grand winner of the ‘shine kenya shinda mamili kama bingwa’, said that the project at Kitere Primary School will provide an enabling environment for the ECD children to have a perfect learning and play experience.
The Head of Institution at Kitere Comprehensive School, John Kodongo, thanked Okoth for identifying his school for the project as well as the Safaricom Foundation for putting smiles on learners at the institution.
The three ECD classes were also equipped with 30 tables and 90 chairs to benefit the current 140 ECD learners at the institution.
Kodongo, however, appealed to more partners to come on board and help with infrastructure in the primary schools to improve learning activities for the younger learners.
