The Samburu County government has flagged off the distribution of medical supplies worth Sh51 million to all government health facilities across the county.
Speaking after flagging off five trucks transporting the medical consignment at the Samburu County Referral Hospital, Samburu Chief Officer (CO) for Medical Services Josephat Lenguris said that the supplies were procured from Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) for the first quarter of the current financial year.
The Chief Officer noted that the delay in procuring the essential commodities was occasioned by the rollout of the newly adopted Electronic Government Procurement System (EGP), adding that procurement officers were being trained to use the new system.
“The beneficiary public health facilities in Samburu north, Samburu east and Samburu central sub-counties will receive the medical supplies in the course of this week and next week,” he said.
Lenguris further disclosed that the consignment consisted of drugs, non-pharmaceuticals, lab reagents and Personal Protective Equipment to ensure quality healthcare to Samburu residents.
The Chief Officer was flanked by the Director of Medical Services Dr. Ezra Lekenit and the medical Superintendent, Dr. Patti Lengees.
